One of the UK’s biggest employers in green energy will cease production less than 24 hours after today’s Government pledge for a major expansion in renewable energy. Britain’s only large scale turbine manufacturer, Vestas, on the Isle of Wight, is shutting down with the loss of around 600 jobs there and at a related plant in Southampton.
